Appointments, Promotions and Tenure (APT)

The Department of Medicine is committed to actively encouraging and providing support for faculty promotion. Our goal is to ensure that our faculty are clear about the different career track options and criteria for promotion in each track. We have a departmental Appointments and Promotions Committee that pre-screens faculty promotions material and advises on promotion criteria in addition to sample CVs to provide guidance on components needed for promotions.

The Department of Medicine Appointments and Promotions Committee is committed to reviewing, advising, and ensuring faculty readiness for the promotions process.  The DOM A & P Committee is composed of diverse senior faculty from multiple sites within the Mount Sinai Health System and chaired by the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs.  It meets monthly, reviews all files for appointments and promotions for senior faculty (Associate Professor and Professor). The Committee is supported by the Administrative Director for Faculty Affairs, Tonya Strickland.

All members of the committee advise faculty and are available to discuss questions related to promotions and the promotions process.

The Department of Medicine has hosted multiple CV workshops across the health system. These workshops have included members of the A & P committee, the Mentoring Director, and Vice Chairs of the department. After a brief presentation about the promotions process, small group breakout sessions allow junior faculty to receive individualized real-time feedback from senior faculty about their CVs.
