Alex Manini, MD, MS, FACMT, FAACT
Dr. Manini, MS, FACMT, FAACT is Director of The Center for Research on Emerging Substances, Poisoning, Overdose, and New Discoveries (RESPOND), with a current clinical research focus on prevention of adverse cardiovascular consequences for patients with acute drug overdose and medical consequences of fentanyl analogue overdose.
Ethan Cowan, MD
Dr. Cowan is Associate Director of The Center for Research on Emerging Substances, Poisoning, Overdose, and New Discoveries (RESPOND), with a current focus on the design, implementation and evaluation of novel interventions in the Emergency Department.
Jennifer Love, MD
Dr. Love is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine interested in toxicology, opioid use disorder, and mentoring women in medicine.
Siri Shastry, MD
Dr. Shastry is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, and her research interests include management of opioid use disorder and drug overdose.
Madeline Renny, MD
Dr. Renny is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine with secondary appointments in Pediatrics and Population Health Science and Policy, interested in studying national opioid and naloxone prescribing practices to understand the scope of the opioid epidemic in children, adolescents, and young adults.
Utsha Khatri, MD
Dr. Khatri is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and health services researcher at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai interested in improving access, outcomes, and equity with regard to the health and health care of structurally marginalized populations.
Leah Habersham, MD
Dr. Habersham is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and OBGYN in addition to being a T32 fellow in emergency care research interested in providing evidence-based care for marginalized women living with addiction in the NYC area.
Jonathan Schimmel, MD
Dr. Schimmel is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, Director of the Emergency Medicine Clinical Trials Core, and a faculty member of the Division of Medical Toxicology interested in prospective clinical trials, medication safety and adverse effects, drug-induced liver injury, and acute poisoning.
Theodore Bania, MD
Theodore “Tod” Bania, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, Associate Dean for Human Subjects Research Protection, Associate Director for the Program for the Protection of Human Subjects, Institutional Review Board (IRB) Chair, and Director of Medical Toxicology at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside. He is interested in treatment and antidotes for various drug toxicity and overdoses, HIV, HCV, and substance use education and research ethics and regulations.
Rachel Shivley, MD
Dr. Shivley is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Clinical Toxicologist who practices clinically at Elmhurst Hospital Center; her research interests include clinical studies to determine drug overdose severity risk predictors.
