The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is committed to excellence in emergency clinical care, education, and research. Providing exceptional emergency care to all patients, of all ages, we use an integrated approach that maximizes the resources of the Mount Sinai Health System in order to meet the individual needs of our patients and their families.
"Emergency medicine is on the front line of the challenges we face in today’s health care system. This presents a unique opportunity for those who work in emergency departments to take a leadership role in improving the delivery of quality care."
Our vision is that of an integrated system of emergency services that provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art, emergency clinical care, education, and research. We strive to be an Emergency Medicine System that builds on the strengths of each of our individual sites to create world class, multi-dimensional centers of excellence in the delivery of emergency care to the individual patient and to the Health System as a whole; that promotes innovation at every level and at every site; and that is based on quality and safety, professionalism and communication, knowledge, and clinical excellence.
We offer two of the leading training programs in Emergency Medicine, with a reputation for innovation. The Department of Emergency Medicine consists of more than seven hospital-based emergency departments and affiliated with Elmhurst Hospital Center, part of New York City’s public health care system and located in one of the most ethnically diverse communities in the world.
