Microscopy and Advanced Bioimaging Core

The Microscopy and Advanced Bioimaging CoRE is a shared resource facility providing access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment and analysis tools. Open to both internal and external users, it is accessible seven days a week. It houses widefield, laser scanning confocal, spinning disk confocal, multi-photon, light-sheet, and super-resolution microscopes, along with two transmission electron microscopes and a high content screener. The CoRE also houses a high-end centralized workstation for image processing, high-performance Computing (HPC) (ex: Deep Learning), and big-data storage and provides access to several commercial software programs for image analysis and data quantification.  Services offered include consultations for sample preparation, training on the microscopes, providing full imaging support, and assistance with analysis strategies. CoRE scientists can also collaborate with investigators to develop novel imaging methods and analysis approaches. The facility also provides a full service for Transmission Electron Microscopy:  tissue/cell processing, image acquisition training or assistance, and image analysis support. The Microscopy Core is an established Leica Center of Excellence, a collaboration between Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Leica Microsystems.

Announcements

Icahn School of Medicine and Leica Microsystems, Inc. have partnered to establish a Leica Center of Excellence at the Microscopy and Advanced Bioimaging Core. The Center of Excellence features cutting-edge super-resolution, confocal and widefield microscopy technology such as Leica SP8 STED, allowing researchers to capture images and video of the cellular and molecular processes of life. The new Center will support a mission to drive new discoveries and insights from scientific research performed using state-of-the-art imaging systems.

The latest additions to the state-of-the-art microscopes at the Microscopy and Advanced Bioimaging Core is the Leica Stellaris 8 confocal microscope and Zeiss LSM 980 confocal microscope with Airyscan2.
