Didactics and Grand Rounds
COVID-19 Update: For safety reasons, our didactics are currently virtual. For prospective candidates (any level of medical school) who are interested in experiencing our didactics, please email our Program Coordinator, Samantha at samantha.gorea@mountsinai.org.
Didactics
Didactics are scheduled for every Tuesday morning from 8am-12pm. Lecture topics include spinal cord injury, brain injury, musculoskeletal, pediatrics, amputations, prosthetics and orthotics, and more. The last hour of didactics is usually reserved for resident-run board reviews. Wellness-related lectures are scheduled such as yoga, pet therapy, and facilitated discussions. Included in didactics are workshops related to ultrasound, botox injections, wheelchair skills, and more. In the PGY2 year, small group musculoskeletal sessions are held at Elmhurst Hospital focusing on physical exam and diagnosis. In the PGY3 year, there is an anatomy dissection course focusing on the back and extremities. All residents must complete a standardized patient encounter at the Morchand Center. Specific didactic time will also be dedicated for working on group Quality Improvement projects.
Grand Rounds
Starting in September we have a variety of established and renowned physicians giving Grand Round talks in topics related to rehabilitation. We invite both local and national speakers.
