The Residency Training Program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is dedicated to training skilled physiatrists, capable of caring for patients living with a wide range of disabilities.
The PM&R residency is a strong clinical and didactic teaching program, drawing on the resources of The Mount Sinai Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital Center, and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. Our residency program provides exposure to spinal cord injury, brain injury, neuromuscular disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, sports medicine, amputations, interventional procedures (ultrasound and fluoroscopic), and electrodiagnostic studies. We are fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Mission Statement
The residency-training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is dedicated to the development of outstanding physiatrists who demonstrate excellence in the areas of knowledge acquisition and application, skill development, clinical judgment, team leadership and interpersonal communication.
Mount Sinai is committed to producing well-rounded, passionate, and dedicated physiatrists. We believe in diversity, inclusion and equity. We believe that our trainees should reflect the vast diversity that exists within our great city of New York. Residents at Mount Sinai will acquire a broad knowledge of physical ability and disability as well as the effects disabilities (visible and invisible) can have upon an individual’s functional ability, emotional adjustment, social interactions, and vocational and avocational pursuits. The resident physiatrist will demonstrate expertise in functional assessment and become adept at critical appraisal of pertinent literature, thus laying the foundation for ongoing continuing education and future contribution to the field.
COVID-19 UPDATE: All residency interviews will be held virtually for the 2022-2023 interview season
