COVID-19: Update on Our Clinical Services
As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, we believe that it is important to be present for our community and to continue to provide services to patients suffering from mood and anxiety disorders. During this health emergency, we will provide telehealth services using HIPAA compliant platforms. No in-person visits will be scheduled during the COVID-19 emergency to minimize risks to our patients. At this time, we are able to provide the following services:

  • Initial psychiatric evaluations for patients suffering from symptoms of depression and anxiety
  • Psychiatric psychopharmacology consultations
  • Longitudinal follow-ups with one of our psychiatrists for both medication management and/or therapy, if deemed appropriate after initial evaluation

We are unable to offer in-person visits for esketamine and TMS treatments.

About
We offer a variety of services associated with our research studies, including diagnostic assessments, brain imaging, innovative medication, and non-medication treatment.

In addition to research, we offer access to exceptional treatment through the coordination and integration of multiple clinical services within the Department of Psychiatry across the Mount Sinai Health System. Please see below for contact information and links for these services.

Treatment-Resistant Depression Program

We provide a thorough diagnostic evaluation to help patients decide if they are a good candidate for a variety of treatment options including esketamine, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), medication, and more.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) involves using magnetic fields on the brain to treat major depression. More information about TMS.

Vagal Nerve Stimulation can be used to treat major depression that is not well controlled by medication or psychotherapy or electroconvulsive therapy. “Studies suggest that at the three-year mark approximately 40 to 50 percent of patients who undergo this procedure for depression report a significant reduction of symptoms,” says Brian Kopell, MD, Director of the Center for Neuromodulation.
