The creation of the Mount Sinai Health System  provides our residents with the resources of the largest network of hospitals in New York. Our residents benefit from the instruction and supervision of both full-time and voluntary faculty in the Mount Sinai Health System and at our affiliated institutions.

The Mount Sinai Urology Residency Program is focused at The Mount Sinai Hospital, with rotations at Mount Sinai Morningside, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Mount Sinai West, Elmhurst Hospital Center, and Queens Hospital Center. 

The Mount Sinai Hospital

In addition to the ten full-time clinical faculty in urology, there are 24 voluntary faculty who practice urology at The Mount Sinai Hospital and a research staff overseen by four faculty PhDs.  As a result, residents have a broad exposure to every aspect of urology during their rotations, including oncology, stone disease, female urology, pediatric urology, neuro-urology, impotence and infertility, prostatic diseases, and state-of-the-art endo-urologic and laparoscopic procedures as well as laboratory and demographic research methods.

Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West

Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West have functioned as a single institution for a number of years, with a unified Department of Urology providing all of the urologic care at both sites. The rotations at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West provide residents with a concentrated experience in endourology and stone disease and with expanded access to robotic and other laparoscopic oncology cases.

Mount Sinai Beth Israel

Michael Palese, MD, the site Chair and a faculty of six full-time and numerous voluntary urologists currently provide the instruction for the Mount Sinai Beth Israel Residency.

The Elmhurst Hospital Center

Elmhurst Hospital Center offers residents experience in treating a variety of urological diseases and conditions, including trauma, as well as the opportunity to interact with patients who have come to from around the world. 

Queens Hospital Center

Like Elmhurst, Queens Hospital Center is part of New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation’s Queens Health Network. The residents are exposed to general urology under the guidance of Hugh Lavery, MD, and a part-time attending staff, while they care for the institution’s oncology patients under the supervision of Dr. Isuru Jayaratna, MD, a fellowship-trained oncologist on the full-time staff of The Mount Sinai Hospital.
