At the Radiation Oncology Department at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, we are dedicated to delivering the highest quality patient care and to advancing treatment options through innovative research. Our integrated, multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment ensures that each patient receives comprehensive and personalized care. Our department comprises outstanding physicians, nurses, physicists, radiation therapists, and support staff who are committed to excellence and always striving to improve our patients’ treatment experience.
Radiation therapy is one of the most effective treatments available to fight cancer. We use it for three general purposes:
- As the only treatment to remove the cancer
- In combination with surgery, chemotherapy, and/or hormonal therapy
- To relieve symptoms associated with cancer
Our professionals have access to the highest level of technology, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy, Novalis radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiation therapy, real-time ultrasound guided prostate seed implants, and proton beam therapy.
