The Department of Orthopedics at the Icahn School of Medicine and Mount Sinai is a truly outstanding department recognized for its depth of expertise and personalized patient care. Orthopedic research and innovation continue to be a cornerstone of our department. I am thrilled to report that the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital is ranked #8 nationally by U.S. News & World Report.
The Mount Sinai Health System reaches across the New York metropolitan area with networks that extend throughout the region. This presents the unique prospect of creatively delivering world-class care to an expanding population through clinical care pathways and collecting quality metrics. I encourage a culture of collaboration across our departments and hospitals. By combining our talents and resources, we will realize our vision of clinical, educational, and research excellence.
In Orthopedics, we have a unique opportunity to impact patient lives through our restorative treatments. By combining medical care with meaningful research in both clinical and basic science areas, we will improve the practice of orthopedic surgery. One of the strengths of our Health System is the ability to gather data and information on our large group of patients. Our outcomes research will carry significant weight in the practice of orthopedics. We will continue to grow our Orthopedic Research Laboratory over the next few years and focus on basic science and translational breakthroughs.
Our department encourages a fresh perspective and an infusion of energy and resources that work synergistically with existing faculty and staff to continue to improve upon the great work that we do. We are fostering the academic aspirations of faculty, residents, fellows, and students, as well as continuing and expanding outstanding patient care. I believe that this is a special time for the Health System and the Department – full of potential and opportunity – and that is why Mount Sinai is the place to be.
I invite you to learn more about our programs, our faculty, and our commitment to the best in medical education, patient care, and scientific research.
