The Simulation Teaching And Research Center (STAR Center) Fellowship in Simulation and Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is a unique two-year experience. Our fellowship is both SSH accredited, and one of the first fellowships to be SAEM approved. Through a combination of undergraduate, resident, faculty, and inter-professional simulation and medical education programs, we have created a unique opportunity for our fellows to learn with, from, and about all aspects of education.
The STAR Center Simulation Fellowship focuses on preparing the next generation of physician educators. Our curriculum covers principles of adult-learning theory, simulation and other curriculum design and development, implementation of medical education programs, debriefing, and learner assessment. Fellows will work with leaders in residency and undergraduate education and simulation. They will have the opportunity to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals and present at local and national conferences.
Fellows in the program will also have the opportunity to become knowledgeable in simulation-based technologies, AV system and other education technology, and will participate in the daily operations of the STAR Center.
Fellows will play an active role in the education of medical students, residents, faculty, prehospital care providers, and inter-professional teams
Fellows will gain a deep understanding of education principles through a master’s program. The STAR Center has developed a relationship with and sends its fellows to the MGH MS in Health Professions Education.
